"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Gandhi
Your dog is thoroughly welcome in each of our cottages except Forest Cottage.
We understand the love of a favoured pet, separation anxiety, and the difficulty in locating genuinely dog friendly accommodation. We stand by our simple philosophy: Your pet is as welcome in our cottages as he or she is in your own home.
However, we do ask that you use your discretion with regard to the high standard of our cottages, the well-being of our native wildlife and our precious livestock. You must accept full responsibility for any damage and all cleanliness? It is important that you accept our Conditions of Use.
Due to a recent disaster we are unable to accept Cats and have had to introduce some some strict rules:
All dogs must be vaccinated, house trained, clean, well behaved, flea free, female pets not in-season, and no puppies. They must be supervised and restrained at all times while on the property. Pet owners are responsible for any damage caused by their pets and must pick up after them or agree to an extra cleaning surcharge.
Due to a recent event where our pet sheep were mauled by a supposedly trustworthy dog, with catastrophic results, we have adhered to an uncompromising policy where any transgression of our pet policy will result in you being asked to leave the property immediately with no provision for a refund.
Please let us know if you do intend to bring the pooch, and what concerns or requirements you may have but be assured they are most welcome. We will ensure that our dog friendly accommodation has arrangements as per your convenience. To this end we have provided fenced areas at each of our cottages to give you the security and confidence you need to know that your pet is safe. Our beautiful forest trail is also available to them. Please refer to our “conditions of use” and be aware that a $40 surcharge does apply to each pet for their entire stay.
Also be aware that National Parks have strict guidelines with regard to restrictions on all domestic animals in National Parks and their current policies can always be confirmed by calling Parks Victoria on 131 963 or by visiting their website.
Johanna Beach is dog friendly but the current status can always be confirmed with Parks. Dog friendly locations are indicated on our interactive map.
Always remember that we are in a natural environment and while you and your pet’s safety is our concern it is your responsibility and some conditions must apply.
